“Humans were constantly desperate to feel normal, to fit in. To blend in with everyone else around them, like a featureless flock of sheep. The need was particularly strong during the adolescent years…..I supposed, being as shy as she seemed to be, that attention would seem like a bad thing to her. Most humans felt the opposite. Though they didn’t want to stand out from the herd, at the same time they craved a spotlight for their individual uniformity.” —Edward Cullen, from Chapter Two of the impartial draft of Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. Even if you hate Twilight and all related memorandum, I love this exceptionally insightful line from the infamous sparkling vampire. We don’t want to stand out from the herd, at the same time that we crave a spotlight for our individual, uniformity.

Thanks for letting me! It truly would, I wish teenagers would focus more on who they're going to be instead of just focusing on instant gratification.

Ahh girl it’s so true. Our generation knows nothing outside of instant gratification. It’s the patience, the waiting and planning and lastly, enthusiasm for who God’s going to make us into that should be our focus! Seeing nothing beyond the present also makes for a huge stumbling block when it comes to lonelyness and depression, where a wider perspective/introspective about life would be so helpful.

I want to spend the rest of my life: Showing God's love Writing Playing Piano Encouraging others to love God Loving God Teaching Pageantry Ballet Caring for others Raising children (NOT NOW :p) Loving everyone, including my enemies Acting Taking too many pictures Working (oddly I love to work) Studying literature Reading/studying God's Word Modeling Trying to do my best at whatever I do I'm also excited about too many things (:

That is an AMAZING list! Thanks a lot for sharing! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more teenagers thought of their coming adulthood this way?
